Margot James MP met with staff from Old Park School, Thorns Primary and the Police on Friday 20th January to see at first hand and discuss traffic problems which are causing safety issues.

Margot met with Gill Cartwright (Head of Old Park), David Priestley (Head of Thorns Primary), along with the Police and School Governors to discuss traffic problems which arise at the school site when children are arriving and leaving school.

Margot will take up the need for a 20 mile per hour speed limit outside of the school during school arrival and home time along with other changes which will improve safety.

Margot said “It was excellent to see the schools road safety project that the children are taking part in as this will improve the children’s road awareness. But it is important that the traffic issue is addressed so that the children and their parents can enter the school as safely as possible, Dudley Council passed a motion in favour of 20mph limits outside schools across the borough this should be implemented to keep children safe outside Thorns schools during peak drop off and collection times.”
